Salary: £84,000 – £96,000 per year

A rare opportunity to join a pharmaceutical industry leader with a defined career path to the post of Site Director.

The role is to provide an efficient, effective and compliant manufacturing operation for a growing, successful biotechnology organisation. You will be developing and implementing strategic and annual operational plans to ensure customer expectations and budget commitments are met. This position is a member of the Leadership team and so an influential figure on site with the authority to drive change and improvement.

Principal Responsibilities

• Create a strong culture of leadership to deliver positive employee relations, establish operational effectiveness and achieve quality and operational objectives.
• Develop a culture of exceptional performance, continuous improvement and customer focus within the Manufacturing team.
• Ensure each team member of the group achieves both personal and company objectives and take necessary action to ensure talent is nurtured and recognised whilst fostering an environment that supports learning, individual development and openness to change.
• Ensure activities meet and integrate with organisational requirements for Quality Management and Regulatory compliance to cGMP.
• Oversee all manufacturing controllable expenses, whilst leading a continuous effort to reduce costs and report key performance measures for the Manufacturing group.
• Develop and execute plans to achieve customer delivery performance to world class performance levels whilst ensuring flexibility and responsiveness to meet current and future business needs.
• Provision of technical resources to run projects, validations, investigations CAPA’s and process monitoring.
• Champion and drive Health and Safety within the Manufacturing team in line with group standards.
• Act as designate to the Site Director to ensure continuity of site oversight and maintenance of site activities in their absence.
• Adhere to company policies on environmental, health, safety and workplace policies ensuring all working systems within manufacturing are in compliance.
• Ensure compliance with all local laws regulating commercial activities and that all interactions and engagements are carried out with the highest ethical and professional standards and that all work is accomplished with quality and in accordance with company values.
• Carry out other reasonable tasks as required by the Line Manager.

Education and Experience
• Degree or equivalent in preferably a scientific or engineering discipline.
• Membership of a recognised regulated professional body is desirable.
• Significant experience and technical understanding of bio-processing platforms.
• Proven experience of a lean philosophy including value stream mapping.
• Excellent understanding and hands–on working knowledge of cGMP, quality and regulatory requirements for API manufacture, with experience of the regulatory inspection processes.
• Professional Health and Safety certification desirable.

Skills and Attributes

• Proven manufacturing operations professional and have previous management experience within a world class production environment and be able to proactively lead a facility and all of its employees
• Strong leadership and line-management skills, coupled with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate all team members whilst identifying and developing key talent.
• Balanced decision maker who understands both risk and reward and who can work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated organisational skills with the capacity to manage changing priorities and ambiguity while remaining calm and controlled.
• An effective relationship manager who can collaborate across the network.
• A change agent with a track record of delivering a sustained continuous improvement mind-set
• A strong communicator with the ability to interact cross-functionally and who considers objectives from a broad perspective. Communicates a “can do” attitude and positive outlook, minimising negative behaviours.
• Service orientated with an eye for excellence coupled with strong project management skills.
• Solid commercial acumen and financial awareness with the ability to plan and control budgets.
