Commercial Litigation Paralegal

My client has fast become one of the leading names within their manufacturing / retail sector. Since the company was founded a little over 5 years ago they have achieved significant growth year on year.

Humber regional specialist and technical recruiters, Emmerson Kitney, are now starting their exclusive search for the firm’s first ever in-house Paralegal.

The Opportunity

The team have a genuine passion for quality and customer excellence across all platforms of the business, and are currently supplying several thousand customers across the UK. And that is where this role comes in. Despite a quality product, a robust and skilled customer care team, and a wide installations network, things can go wrong. Following a review of operations, for those cases where disputes arise and are escalated, we are seeking an experienced and skilled Commercial Litigation Paralegal to resolve problems. This newly created, key role will take overall responsibility for:

– Managing complex customer complaints and disputes to resolution. Communicating with customers, analysing complex written material, identifying and summarising key issues, and concluding matters.
– Managing the company’s caseload of debt recovery case, maximising collections whilst ensuring a customer centric approach.
– Liaising with internal stakeholders to Board level, you will help the team maximise collections and ensure compliance with internal customer care standards and external ombudsman.

Specific aspects of the role include: management of contentious cases, ensuring the use of appropriate litigation methods; cases which may prove to be at risk of costs or company reputation; liaising with appointed external Solicitors; ensuring customer care principles are adhered to; identifying mediation and/or settlement opportunities and negotiating customer settlements; and helping maintain an accurate and up to date position of accounts.

The Candidate:

To be considered we anticipate that you will have at least 5 years’ relevant experience as a Paralegal, Commercial Litigation Assistant or Legal Executive, or have significant experience in a senior Customer Compliant / Dispute Resolution role, preferably in the construction, modular, caravan or retail sector. Applicants for this role should have a solid understanding of Civil Procedure Rules plus strong customer awareness, communication, time management and negotiation skills.
