Salary: £42,000 – £48,000 per year

An opportunity exists within the Hybrid and Electronic System Team for an Engineer – Inductive charging systems to deliver on-going client technology projects.

Job Duties:
To deliver technical content of client projects:

1. To work on the development and implementation of inductive charging systems from prototype through to full series production on client hybrid and electric vehicle projects
2. Interface directly with clients on technical issues, often working as part of the client engineering team at the client site or any one of the other offices.
3. Liaise with suppliers/subcontractors to agree the specification of purchased components and delivery requirements for the project.
4. To support lead engineers in the development of electrical and electronic systems
5. Work to client quality procedures and validation processes
6. Support the development of future products and services

Required Qualifications and Experience:
The successful applicant will have a sound engineering background and a number of years of experience of delivering projects in inductive charging systems.

1. Minimum degree in Electrical or electronic Engineering.
2. Knowledge of power electronic converters and electronics design, including enclosures, associated materials and degrees of protection.
3. An understanding of project delivery within a systems engineering environment.
4. Familiar with product delivery process from requirements capture through to design validation of power electronics.
5. Knowledge of compliance engineering to external standards, such as EMC.
6. Good interpersonal and customer facing skills
7. Proactive, self-motivated, and attention to detail
8. Strong teamwork, organizational, oral communication, and written communication skills

Desired Qualifications and Experience:
It would be beneficial, but not essential if the applicant had some experience or knowledge in the following fields:
1. Topology and control systems for hybrid/electric vehicles
2. Analytical approach to developing controls algorithms in an automotive environment
3. Experience in a model-based development languages such – Matlab/Simulink
4. An understanding of automotive CAN network topology
5. Familiar with laboratory & field development & test equipment.
6. Experience of DCDC converter and battery charger design
7. Familiar with compliance engineering to external standards for magnetic field safety
8. Experienced in DFMEA for Electrical Systems
9. Hands on experience of working live with HV systems (>50V)
