Salary: £30,000 – £36,000 per year

A leading Construction and Civil Engineering services provider with a large, purpose built facility in the Barnsley area, have a new, permanent opportunity due to a departmental restructure, for an Administration Team Leader to work within their busy SHEQ department. The role will involve providing direction, drive and leadership to the SHEQ Administration team, ensuring it operates efficiently to meet internal/external customer requirements, strategic needs and reporting deadlines.

The role will encompass the following: 

  • Maintain full awareness of the SHEQ responsibilities for yourself and any associated team members, in accordance with company policy and procedures
  • Undertake a range of administrative work including data entry, company SHEQ reporting, possession of environmental licences, typing, document filing, diary management and events organisation in order to ensure the smooth running of the department
  • Composes, types and sends out communications without needing manager’s approval, or prepares more complex correspondence for approval by Director
  • Assemble accurate ad hoc and regular information and data from a variety of sources, analyse if required and produce reports. Utilises company reporting databases to develop Company and parent company reports
  • Establish professional working relationships with others in order to manage operational and change requirements with suppliers and customers to the benefit of the business
  • Deals with incoming telephone calls, emails and client portal notifications for SHEQ teams and acts as a focal point and filter for the SHEQ teams dealing with clients and supply chain enquiries

We seek someone with the following skills and attributes to fulfil this role: 

  • Leads and coordinates day to day operations of the SHEQ administration department
  • Manages, mentors and provides leadership to the SHEQ administration team, with previous recognised experience of leading and managing departmental teams
  • Ensures internal and customer reporting systems are up to date with relevant information and within timescales 
  • Ensures SHEQ enquiries are quickly actioned and feedback provided
  • Works with the SHEQ Director to ensure effective implementation of the SHEQ administration team, meeting objectives, targets and performance measures
  • Delivers SHEQ corporate induction to new starters to the business
  • Contributes to continuous business process improvement through the adoption of best practice
  • Improves SHEQ processes to create efficiencies and simplified methods of working. E.g. Digital solutions
  • Arranges meetings, conferences and roadshows
  • Works with the SHEQ team and/or estimator, to support the submission tenders
  • Any other authorised tasks/duties commensurate with the role

The role is offered with the following perks and benefits:
