Senior Web Developer (Back End)

My client is looking to recruit an exciting Senior Back End Developer and Front End Developer to work at their busy head office on the outskirts of Salisbury.

Principal Responsibilities:

Developing, testing and maintaining all existing websites/web applications:

Developing, testing and maintaining main website.
Developing, testing and maintaining online quote systems, 3rd party feeds and data links to internal CRM system.
Development of marketing e-mails.
Developing, testing and maintaining online Claims Portal.

Contributing technical and functional input to new designs, other web-based applications in support of various marketing campaigns and initiatives – including mobile optimisation and apps/games.

Test and quality assure all implementations – proactively finding and fixing bugs, making changes and updates in response to internal and external demands.

Monitoring and maintaining deployed web assets to ensure optimal performance and availability.

Database administration (creating, modifying database tables and fields).

Any other tasks or ad hoc duties associated with online marketing, application development and maintenance.

Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience:Technical skills, ‘must have’:

PHP.
HTML 5.
CSS.
XML/SOAP.
MySQL.
JavaScript/JQuery.
WordPress. An ability to create/modify themes, templates, plug-ins and widgets.
Strong awareness of good SEO techniques and best practices.
Basic graphics manipulation for website implementation.
Responsive design techniques for mobile and tablet.
Ability to document technical specifications clearly and accurately.
User Interface and UX design skills.
Analytics such as Google Analytics.
Experience with source control tools and processes.
Mobile app development and deployment including games.
Social media interaction.
Linux.
Experience with e-commerce
Microsoft.NET – C#.
MS SQL.
Microsoft systems.
API development.
Team player and contributor.
Creative problem solver; solid and structured implementer.
Excellent communications skills – written and verbal.
Attention to detail.
Excellent personal organisation skills with an ability to manage their own priorities in conjunction with team leaders and project managers.
Excellent time management.
Ability to estimate realistically, commit to and deliver within projects on tight deadlines with high business criticality.
An ability to map technical solutions to business problems.
An understanding of financial/insurance sector.
Out-going and confident presenter able to communicate at all levels; to colleagues and senior management.
Previous experience developing web-based business-critical applications within medium/large commercial enterprises.
Educated to degree level in relevant subjects, or proven experience and other qualification levels in-lieu.
Minimum: GCSE English & Maths.

Hours are 9am-6pm, salary circa £54,000.
