CAD Technician

Our client is looking for a Design Draughtsman to join their team.
Responsibilities:
• To work as the Design Draughtsman within the team, suppliers, sub-contractors, and clients in the preparation of drawings for tender bids, facility designs and construction.
• To support the Projects team with day to day and project specific activities

As Design Draughtsman working alongside and supporting of the other Project Team Members to;
• Prepare designs of facilities from outline design through to ‘as-installed’ layouts in accordance to recognised industry standards.
• Generate a layout drawing to clarify the various aspects of the project will be dealing with in the design process.
• To submit drawings for customer approval and maintain drawing issues and approval registers
• Carry out detailed site surveys of buildings and plant.
• Attend site and survey the building and all services (required or potentially obstructing). Take photographs Raise detailed construction drawings, Detailed Ductwork Drawings, Detailed Mechanical Services (Pipework etc.), and Fit out details. Sections, Elevations and plans.
• To be aware of the project requirements, scope and boundaries and work within these.
• To identify and highlight project and design risks and issues that may become apparent and work to develop solutions.
• Develop and maintain the Drawing Register for all produced drawings.
• Create Plant Schedules for components such as doors, grilles, dampers, lights, benching etc.
• Size ductwork, specify plant and equipment and develop design solutions.

Support and Administration

• Liaise with suppliers and contractors to obtain documentation and data sheets for all components used in the project.
• Collate and Compile O&M Manuals
• Collate and Compile Health and Safety documentation and site folders
• Write and maintain Health and Safety Plans
• Write project Risk Assessments and Method Statements and liaise with contractors to obtain project H&S documentation.
• Obtain project quotations from suppliers. Raise Purchase Orders review order acknowledgements and follow up on order deliveries
• Raise Project Opportunity numbers and maintain project statuses on company database
• Set up new contractors and suppliers. Send and receive contractor engagement and accounts documentation and maintain Project Contractor Database

Competencies

You will be expected to possess a degree or equivalent in a relevant Engineering subject and be prepared to undergo the in-house training which will be provided to enable you to understand:
• HVAC; Rule-of-thumb Plant sizing and selection; Lighting Level Calculation; Duct Design Sizing to different parameters; Pipe-work design and sizing; Design of room layout; Design of equipment layout; Electrical and Controls
• Selection of envelope components; Detail Design of Construction finishes; Understand interaction between HVAC and Building envelope.
• IT – Computer Literate ideally with a good working knowledge of; AutoCAD. Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook/Project; Adobe Acrobat; BIM; Revit

Additional

• This position will involve travel throughout the UK and potentially abroad
• A full driving licence is desirable
• Due to the nature of the sites all applicants will have to undergo any and all specified security checks.
• With frequent client interaction a professional appearance is expected at all times.
