Salary: £42,000 – £54,000 per year

This challenging and exciting opportunity requires an individual with a strong structural engineering background, and proven experience in a similar role working for a recognised business,

Our client is a market leading specialist, renowned for providing technically advanced and cost-effective products, services and solutions across all areas of the construction arena. Their temporary works division provides a wide array of offerings within formwork, falsework, propping and jacking systems, precast concrete supports, anchors, underpinning, retaining structures, clamping and bracket systems. The company has developed a wide range of industry leading design and analysis software, applying this advanced expertise to deliver highly competitive and truly bespoke value engineered proposals and solutions, coupled with the ability and operational expertise to deliver any size and type of project tailored bespoke to their client’s key drivers and specifications, covering all areas of the construction industry as a whole.

Due to an ambitious and long-term growth plan, our client is now seeking to appoint a Senior Structural Engineer, which is a seen as a critical position to the business, and working as a lead member of the team, reporting to the Group Chief Engineer.

The Role

* Calculate the safe use of all products, systems and services

* Develop product rules and datasheets to ensure that safe and economic technical information is provided to the design team, complying with current technical standards

* Produce design guides to assist in communicating efficient methodology to produce scheme designs, and training of Design Engineers

* Verify calculations and testing to prove product (both standard and specialist) structural capabilities and compliance with current standards

* Ensure suitable “fit for use” technical standards are in place for ongoing use of all equipment

* Assist in the development of new products for the group in accordance with the business development and marketing strategy

* Assist in the delivery of the technical aspects of major projects, including taking a lead in the design and verification of specially fabricated structures, systems, products and components

* Manage the structural requirements of product development projects, and instruct others on the capabilities and use of these products

* Develop an understanding of the limitations of all the company’s products so as to re-engineer these products for different uses

* Optimize solutions based on this knowledge, and develop more efficient next generation solutions

* Manage the inspection and testing of new products as required

The Person

* The ideal candidate should hold a Civil, Mechanical or Structural Engineering degree, with chartership being ideal but not essential

* You must be able to demonstrate strong experience and expertise in structural and mechanical calculations

* Advanced knowledge of structural frame analysis packages such as Rstab, FEA and RFEM, coupled with solid expertise in AutoCAD and Revit

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with colleagues at all levels, and able to multitask and manage multiple priorities

* You will possess 7-10 years’ experience working in a similar role
