Salary: £32,400 – £36,000 per year
Our prestigious client is situated on two sites based in the outskirts of Colchester and are looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join their busy team at the earliest opportunity.
Purpose of the Role
• To undertake all maintenance activities within the Site, including mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic servicing of equipment, including the automated systems.
PLEASE NOTE THAT IEEE/ELECTRICAL QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE BENEFICIAL
• To learn the skills required to undertake the range of roles and activities required within the role.
• To have some knowledge and experience of warehouse management systems and automated controlled machinery.
• To operate as part of a wider Warehouse Team ensuring the accurate and timely provision of Customer orders on behalf of both Group and 3rd Party Client Publishers.
• Focus on the ‘high level’ site maintenance issues and ground maintenance which would normally be the responsibility of the site handyman.
• To be on call to cover out of hours emergencies, to arrange ongoing Planned Preventative Maintenance Schedules; specifically to ensure ongoing support for the Warehouse and IT Control Room and minimising downtime
Key Responsibilities- (Functions/Activities)
Function Activities
Whole Site: Minor I major repairs;
Routine maintenance, inc plumbing,
carpentry, welding, painting;
Sprinkler system maintenance and testing
Generator maintenance and testing
Lighting;
Key holder
Warehouse Racking repairs
Automated warehouse system
Maintenance;
Box making, Lidding and Heat Tunnel maintenance
Site facility maintenance,
Roof maintenance;
Bay Door maintenance;
Ancillaries machinery repair and maintenance;
Conveyor (1/4 mile) maintenance;
Preventative maintenance on all above
Specific tasks Planned Preventative Maintenance Schedule
COSHH record maintenance;
Weekly Fire Test; Walkway gritting;
Key contact for Emergency Evacuations
Weekly water quality testing
Ad-hoc tasks To be involved in continuous improvement, to include installation of new equipment
Cover maintenance at Sites
Inventory Control
Ordering on Sprinter
Out of hours To be on call regarding fire, site maintenance, intruder alarm, automated warehouse systems and the IT Computer Room
Applied Knowledge & Specialist Skills Required
General Skills The full range of skills required to undertake each of the activities across each function of the Frating/Manningtree Sites as outlined in the ‘Key Responsibilities’ section above. Must be able to work at height.
Driving Skills The role holder may be required to drive any FLT on site – in all cases appropriate training will be given.
The role holder will be required to hold a full driving licence to be able to work on two sites
IT Systems Knowledge The role holder will be required to have a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office systems, purchasing systems and software navigation. A percentage of the work outside the office will be laptop based.
Machine Operation The role holder will be required to work all of the various machinery positioned to
support the running of the warehouse
Relevant Experience Required
The roleholder will have previous experience of working in a maintenance/engineering environment, ideally within a Distribution Warehouse or production line and will already have the appropriate qualifications and time served knowledge within an electrical/mechanical role.
