Salary: £30,000 per year

Field Service Engineer

Reporting to Aftersales manager

Essential requirements

Hold a full and clean UK driving licence.

Willing to travel across the UK with ad-hoc nights away from home.

Be fluent in both written and verbal English language for the purposes of report writing.

Be competent with the use of tablets, mobile phones and the apps stored on such devices.

Must be able to lift up to 35kg and be of general good health and fitness.

Must have experience of installing external/entrance doors and frames.

Experience and knowledge of carrying out high standards of maintenance and door remedial work – carpentry/joinery/building skills advantageous.

Demonstrable knowledge of frame and door hanging.

Demonstrable knowledge of rectifying failing door components including locks.

Wear smart and practical clothing provided by the company, ensuring a professional appearance at all times.

Mandatory responsibilities

Key responsibilities

pre-arranged visits, attend any properties to inspect or remedy company doors where a complaint has been reported, contacting your customer on route to advise ETA.

Carry out a Health and Safety risk assessment on arrival.

Establish the cause of the fault and ascertain if this is derived from manufacturing.

If a manufacturing fault is found, carry out the remedial work* if able.

Adhere to customer communication guidelines issued by line manager.

Ensure door and its surroundings are left clean and tidy.

Take measurements, photographs, write up inspection reports and send to head office.

Fitting of new and replacement doorsets

Liaise with Continuous improvement any repeat or preventable manufacturing issues.

Self-development – arranging training with other field engineers and evidencing this.

Attend meetings and training as required by the business.

Regular communication with the complaint coordinator to advise of any urgent component orders, problems on site or issues attending a job.

Stripping of door furniture on site and re-used where able. Attaching paperwork to returns items and handing safely to goods-in at the end of each shift.

Liaising with the Transport department when your vehicle requires service or repairs.

Assisting other departments as and when required including various duties within the Warehouse, Production and Transport.

Maintain a clean, tidy and efficiently loaded van, ensuring all doors and components are protected from damage in transit.

List of remedial work including but not limited to:

Replacing hinges, glass, cassettes, letter boxes, handles, spy holes, knockers and locks. Adjusting hinge positioning, drainage tests and carrying our bowed door reports.

Performance measures

Complete call out reports, accurately and in full, returned on the same day as the site visit

Clean and Tidy van

All returns paperwork completed, accurately and in full, returned on the same day as the site visit

Paperwork completed for all items taken from warehouse and dispatch

All remedial items/doors inspected at the company prior to loading with a target of no damage in transit
