Shift Leader – Children’s Residential Services – Bournemouth

Full time, part time (flexible up to 30 hours per week)
£15,500 – £19,000 depending on skills and experience My client is looking to employ a Shift Leader to work within their Childrens home in Bournemouth.

You will be working with children who have attachment issues, severe EBD, criminal convictions and physical disabilities.

Applicants will need to be able to contribute to the homes planning and decision making in the absence of the unit manager and assistant manager as well as take responsibility for the daily running of the home in their absence.

You will be taking a lead role in formally assessing the needs of young people in conjunction with colleagues and other professionals and will promote and safeguard the welfare of the young people in placement.

You will demonstrate an understanding of the young peoples’ early life experiences and that such experiences may result in, or contribute to severe challenging behaviour. To recognise and accept the possible need to intervene using positive handling strategies in order to make incidents safe, and to work as part of a consistent team.

You can expect to earn £26,000 per year for weekdays and £26,000 per year for weekends and will be require to work shifts. The shift patterns are earlies (8.30am-3pm) and lates (2.30pm-11pm). There is no requirement to work sleep ins or waking nights.

To be considered for the role you MUST:

Have proven residential child care experience
Ability to manage the day to day running of the home in the absence of the Unit Manager
Have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle
Hold an NVQ 3 in Childcare or to have held a managerial/instructor position relevant to residential childcare
Knowledge of Child Protection procedures relating to young people
