The Universitys Estate Development Service (EDS) takes responsibility for the planning, management and development of the University’s estate, ensuring it is fit for purpose to meet the strategic aims and objectives of the University. We are currently in the process of delivering a multi-million pound estate development programme.
The Head of Project and Cost Management will play a lead role in the EDS Management team with particular responsibility for ensuring that key complex and/or major capital projects are delivered to a very high quality and ensuring best value for money for the University. You will lead a team of Project Managers responsible for managing the construction and refurbishment of university buildings, generally with individual project values ranging from c. £5m to £50m and will be responsible for impact mitigation.
This is a challenging and varied role, with particular focus on providing cost, commercial and project management services and advice & developing the expertise in these fields across EDS.
The successful candidate will possess relevant experience in a cost and project management role with a track record, of delivering capital development projects and programmes on a comparable scale (in excess of £300m in value) and nature. You will have excellent communication & negotiating skills, with the personality and authority to lead and manage project teams and a track record of working effectively in or with a large scale, complex organisation.
You will have strong commercial management skills, with experience of financial management, contract procurement and supply chain management in relation to project delivery. Experience of reporting and performance management in a comparable context is essential.
It is expected that the successful candidate will possess a relevant professional cost management/quantity surveying qualification/membership (e.g. RICS, CIOB).
