Housing Assistant

Our client, a housing provider in Newport, has approached BRC seeking two Housing Assistants to start at short notice on 4 month temporary contracts, which have the potential for extension.
The main purpose of the Housing Assistant role is to support the housing and technical team in delivering the Lettings and Void Management service in accordance with all relevant policies and procedures and legal and regulatory requirements.

You will be required to:

– Work closely with the Housing Officer`s and Surveyors to ensure properties are let with minimum void loss, within void agreed targets and in accordance with the lettings policy and common waiting list guidelines
– Act as first point of contact for applicants and tenants providing advice surrounding the lettings procedures including general housing advice in relation to housing applications, interviewing applicants and carrying out viewings and sign ups
– Advertise and let properties and maintain accurate records in accordance with the voids and lettings procedure
– Assist the Housing Officers with the administration of tenancies
– Administer the ‘Homeswapper` system for mutual exchanges
– Ensure that all necessary data is collected and collated on new tenants for profiling purposes
– Deal with customer queries and complaints both face to face and over the phone in an effective and professional manner
– Provide a comprehensive administrative support service to the Housing Department

Essential Requirements:

– Experience working within a similar position within the housing sector; ideally with exposure to managing void properties and the lettings procedures
– A full driving license with access to your own vehicle

Desirable Requirements:

– Experience working with ANITE/Northgate
– Knowledge or experience of working Abritas / Homeseeker
