This is a great job opportunity for a Housing Assistant to join Home Group’s awesome housing team in Guildford, Croydon and West London. As our Community Housing Assistant (CHA) you’re the face-to-face customer support to our communities. If you like variety, meeting and supporting customers, and want to develop a career in housing, then this is the perfect job for you! You’ll be assisting our Housing Managers across the South East, working from home 3 or 4 days a week, and visiting services once or twice a week, to either Croydon, Guildford or West London.

Typical day as our Housing Assistant

  • Through visibility, engagement with customers and proactivity on our estates, you’ll really get to get to know our communities.
  • You’ll support our housing managers to look after their patches and through this, help us to improve our local neighbourhoods.
  • You’ll support with tasks such as managing our voids processes which includes liaising with local authorities, estate inspections, engaging and meeting with contractors on site.
  • You’ll carry out and record the routine safety and compliance checks in our buildings and communities.
  • You’ll also manage the admin updating records, ordering, and arranging payment for works to be done.

You bring

  • A “can do” positive attitude, you’re proactive and well organised, able to work on your initiative.
  • A real passion for delivering excellent customer service and a genuine desire to help your customers.
  • Confidence working collaboratively with colleagues in other parts of the business and external partners.
  • An understanding of housing management and housing law or the passion to learn this.
  • The ability to use technology to navigate our systems and update customer records
  • An appreciation that this is a role where you’ll spend some of your time lone working in our local estates.

Our team 

You’ll join Ali, who’s been with us at Home Group for 17 years. Her side kick is her cocker spaniel Dexter, and Ali is famed for her fantastic cake baking skills! Ali has previously ‘dined in the sky’, suspended 100 foot in the sky to have her dinner, but rest assured this was a one off! Ali manages a team of friendly Housing Managers who deliver an excellent service to our customers across the south east. We’re passionate about what we do and are a supportive bunch who look out for each other and work closely as a team.

Job details

  • This is a hybrid role which means you will either be working in our communities, or work with your colleagues in an office or working from home. Our patches cover Guildford, Croydon and West London and you’ll plan with your Housing Manager where to visit each week.
  • There may be some flexibility to adapt your working hours, so do let us know about this when you meet us at the interview.
  • We mainly work Monday to Friday and work occasional evenings to meet with customers, and you’ll shape your own diary.
  • To get from A to B, you’ll need a vehicle insured for business purposes. The great news is that we’ll pay your mileage!
  • You’ll need a Standard DBS check done and we pay for that.
