Background
A Trainee Deputy Offshore Superintendent is now required by the world’s largest player in the industry of high-technology cables and systems for energy and telecommunications.

Reporting to the Installation Manager, the Trainee Deputy Offshore Superintendent will be trained to work and abide by the Offshore Installation Manager’s (OIM) Terms of Reference (ToRs), as supplied by the appropriate Project Manager, for all offshore operations. The Company’s intention is to recruit a candidate, who will be trained and developed over a period of 3 to 4 years to perform the Superintendent role fully. Ideally they are looking for candidates who have either electrical, mechanical or marine qualifications.

The successful candidate could be spending up to 200 days plus a year at sea, so interested candidates need to be aware of this.

Key Responsibilities
Assist the OIM to liaise with the vessel’s master, to ensure that the vessel is provided with sufficient fuel, water, victuals and all the necessary stores for passage and to carry out its required scope of operations.
Work with the installation department, to ensure each operation of a particular project has been carefully planned and the procedures are documented and understood by the offshore personnel, in advance of commencing offshore operations.
Ensure offshore operations are conducted in accordance with documented plans and procedures and ensure revisions are discussed and documented with Project Managers.
Provide input in the development phase of a project.
Assist the Offshore Superintendent to be responsible for the conduct of Company employees and Company Sub-contractors onboard.
All relevant certification, calibration logs and maintenance records to be onboard and available at all times.
Ensure that all plant and equipment is properly tested and certified before being used and examined at requisite intervals by competent personnel.
Ensure operations undertaken by the Company comply with environmental policy and ensure that all practical measures are taken to protect the environment and prevent pollution.
Preserve good customer relationships at all times.
Insure that the Installation department is fully advised immediately of any areas or issues of concern that will cause or possibly cause the vessel to become un-operational.
Install power cables in a professional and competent capability.
Assist in the planning and design of power cable installation projects.
Support installation at all key phases of power cable installation and burial operations, from pre-engineering, planning, PLGR, installation, burial, cable pull-ins on towers or rigs.

Key Qualifications and Experience
Educated to either HNC, HND, Deck/Engine Class 1 certificate of competency or other suitable offshore qualification.
Suitable offshore Personal Medical Certificate – ENG1 or Equivalent.
Offshore personal safety and survival training.
Knowledge of the Project operations to be undertaken.
Office Secondment (offshore planning position preferable).
Experience in offshore environment.
Proven man management ability.
Proven diplomatic and influencing skills.
Good interpersonal and leadership skills and an ability to communicate in spoken and written English.
