Mechanical Fitter

Salary: £16.8 – £19.2 per hour

My client, a leading designer and manufacturer of special purpose machinery based near Cambridge, are looking for several highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Technicians on an ongoing contract basis.

Due to an influx of work, they are keen to secure the services of an individual who has prior and demonstrable experience within a similar role, preferably within machinery build sector.

You will work across a wide variety of standard and development products include preparation and fitting of basic and complex assemblies and sub-assemblies. Working to mechanical engineering drawings and layouts and be able to handle tight deadlines. You may also be asked to work remotely on customer sites when required.

Responsibilities include:
– Component Sub-Assembly Manufacture
– Working to detailed engineering drawings
– Development/Build of components using basic machine shop equipment
– Specialist pipe fabrication and orbital/manual welding (not essentual)

Ideally you will be vocationally qualified to a high level – C&G/NVQ or Apprenticeship, and be able to refer to many years of experience within the role. A strong mechanical assembly background is required, along with solid fitting and assembly skills, with welding and fabrication an advantage.

My client offers a competitive hourly rate, and has specified that this role is currently an up to 6 month contract, but may well last longer..
