ICT Desktop Deployment Team Leader

The
A strategic alliance has been formed between Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police in order to enable both forces to meet the challenge of reducing policing budgets. By working more closely together the forces will benefit from greater operational and organisational resilience, making us the fourth largest geographic police area in England and Wales.
The main purpose of the role is to lead the ICT Logistics team focusing on customer satisfaction and delivering to service level agreement targets.
Technical authority for all ICT end user devices ensuring that they meet the needs of the business and relevant standards.
To oversee and manage all requests for new, replacement and upgrades to ICT end user devices
Main Responsibilities:
Manage team activities and resources ensuring the relentless focus of the services delivered in terms of personal and professional contribution to supporting the delivery of the organisations outcomes, understanding operational performance and resolving performance challenges within the allocated portfolio.
Manage team activities and resources within service level agreements, taking necessary action to ensure quality of service, performance and cost targets are met, including:
Ensuring technical solutions for end user devices are implemented to relevant technical, Information Assurance and policy standards.
Management of all end user devices including PC’s, Winterms, printers, scanners, laptops, mobile devices, phones and other related computer equipment.
Resolution of 2nd line incidents and problems.
Management of standard requests for change within area of business.
Promote an environment of continuous improvement and innovation across the team including:
Within area of responsibility develop suitable solutions that meet business objectives, Coordinate the evaluation of solutions against relevant standards (e.g. CESG standards, Codes of Connection etc)
Manage replacement of equipment utilising industry innovations to ensure best use of technology.
To develop, organise and manage the work of the ICT Logistics team including resource-analysis, assessing business impact and operational urgency, workload scheduling and distribution of tasks to ensure the work of the section is focussed on assisting the delivery of policing priorities.
Provide leadership to the ICT Logistics team dealing with day to day staff issues, undertaking staff PDR’s and dealing with escalated issues both technical and non-technical ensuring that corporate policy, procedures and conventions are complied with.
To assist senior managers to understand and articulate their requirements for ICT enabling the purchase, implementation of appropriate technical solutions and ongoing support.
Actively participate in meetings both representing ICT at corporate meetings and at ICT technical meetings providing input relevant to area of business utilising technical expertise.
To liaise with the Systems Operations, Network Server Team and other technical support staff in order to resolve technical ICT problems in line with local and corporate priorities.
Ensure integrity, fairness and consideration of the needs of others is incorporated into the daily duties and relationships with colleagues.
To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required.
Experience/Skills:
ICT (Level 5) Professional Qualification or significant similar role experience within an ICT Service environment.
ITIL foundation certificate in IT Service Management.
Current knowledge of ICT equipment and products, their use and application.
Excellent technical knowledge of a Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 7/8, iOS; desktop hardware configurations, specifications and their interoperability with citrix, printing, scanning systems and Force applications.
Previous experience of working in an ITIL based ICT Service Management environment
Experience of working with a converged IP network.
Previous experience of leading a team of ICT technical specialists
Experience of achieving results through effective team leadership and meeting targets of time, cost, quality and performance within projects of substantial value.
Experience of chairing meetings and giving presentations on all aspects of the role.
Ability to work to tight deadlines and changing priorities.
Ability to quickly absorb information and understand new IT systems and processes
Ability to maintain professional practise whilst leading an ICT team in a dynamic environment managing the organisations critical systems.
Ability to manage the implementation of significant volumes of end user devices, meeting targets of time, cost and quality.
Ability to manage 3rd party suppliers, ensuring service levels are met.
Ability to document procedures in a precise and clear manner, ensuring they are relevant to the audience.
Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and external suppliers at all levels both technically and non-technically.
Excellent fault fixing and problem solving skills using a systematic, disciplined, analytical approach.To be strongly self-motivated with an aptitude and willingness to motivate and develop team members, and self, to full potential.
Special Conditions
On-call (as required) – When required participate in the ICT on call rota providing out of hours ICT service for critical service impacting incident.
Regular Travel throughout Warwickshire/West Mercia
