Summary:

• Remote role with monthly company meet ups in central Leeds
• Web solutions technology company
• Building high usage, transactional websites with extensive functionality
• Tech stack includes OOPHP, Laravel, Docker, AWS, PHPUnit, Kubernetes, Git, Design Patterns, SASS, composer packages, third party API’s and web services
• Circa 15 in the development team, broken down into 3 Scrums – we’re now building a 4th and looking for 3 Laravel Developers to join it

We’re looking for a mid or senior level Developer with good backend Laravel knowledge to work on a variety of projects. You’ll be involved in solutions design, working with the System Architect to decide the build process, then either taking the project through to completion on your own or as part of a small Scrum.

You’ll have autonomy and be able to steer the direction of the tech stack, making recommendations for improvements and demonstrating best practice. The team loves clean code and have worked hard to get rid of legacy code so 95% of the work is now greenfield.

The role will involve the following so we’re looking for 2 years’ plus commercial experience in these areas:

• Writing clean, reusable PHP Laravel code following OOP principles
• Making use of design patterns
• Constructing new backend/API functionality with a focus on data mapping
• Consuming and interacting with third-party web services and API’s

Bonus points for PHPUnit experience – they follow a TDD and largely CI/CD approach. If you’re full stack and also have frontend skills, they’d be very interested in that too.

The tech stack is constantly evolving and there’s opportunities to cross-train and pick up skills in many different areas including frontend JavaScript framework knowledge and DevOps and automation skills – we will also be looking for a Scrum Lead and for mids to step up to senior roles so it’s all on offer here.
