Database Administrator

Salary: £26,000 per year

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-moving Energy business who are driving the change to Zero Emissions. The role is working as a Database Administrator, organising and managing data within their SQL database alongside creating efficient processes to utilise the data.
This is an interesting and varied role. You will be required to take conceptual designs and develop user friendly forecasting and digital analytics tools that we use to model the energy market. The purpose of the role is to create an efficient flow of data within the organisation and create a stable foundation to enable future growth opportunities in a digitalised environment.
The DBA will be responsible for designing, creating and maintaining the company’s database to include managing all activities related to database systems. The design and implementation of the database must be in accordance to end users information needs and meet system storage requirements and therefore an assessment of the modelling and data landscape will be required.
As a DBA, you will be monitoring performance, minimising database downtime, managing parameters to provide fast query responses, implementing changes and applying new patches and versions when required
In order to facilitate the data integration, the role will include enabling data distribution to the right users, in the appropriate format and in a timely manner
Create tools by considering both back-end organisation of data and front-end accessibility for end-users to view and utilise data and output reports for clients
To be successful as a Database Administrator you will require the following:-
• Previous experience with DBA tools (frontend/backend) and third party tools
• Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity and SQL
• Advanced knowledge of SQL, VBA, C# and Excel
• Familiarity with database design, documentation and coding
• Educated to degree level in a mathematical, computer science, operational research (essential)
• Demonstrable experience in database management, query optimisation, creation of stored routines, automation, performance tuning and service monitoring (essential)
• Proven experience in the creation of tools and system development (essential)
• Excellent knowledge of SQL, VBA, C#, Excel and excel data processing skills (essential)
• Excellent written communication skills (essential)
• Ability to work independently or collaborate with wider teams (essential)
• Well-developed research, numerical and analytical skills (essential)
