Wtg Contract & Purchasing Manager

We are currently working with one of the leaders in the renewable energy sector who are looking to appoint a WTG Contract & Purchasing Manager to develop and expand strategic relationships within the wind turbine supply chain and will manage the turbine procurement activity on each project to deliver optimal costs, quality, programme and risk allocation.

The Role

Promote the turbine procurement activity throughout the project development cycle, co-coordinating between several different parts of the business to ensure the timely delivery of turbine supply and service contracts in UK and defined European markets.
Prepare turbine procurement strategies to ensure a seamless transition of projects from consenting to financing, taking account of project specific requirements regarding timing and cost.
Lead WTG tendering activity for allocated projects to identify the most commercially attractive turbine option on each project, presenting these options to the relevant board.
Lead the turbine supply agreement and negotiations to financial close coordinating the legal, engineering, construction and operational resources on multiple projects at the same time.
Monitor and anticipate changes in the market (cost/quality/technology/sub-suppliers) and industry which could impact on the commercial risk profile of projects/Business.
Prepare regular turbine market and supplier assessments for distribution internally.
Support development of existing relationships with turbine suppliers and take steps to develop new relationships to expand supply chain options.
Be a role model for health & safety and consider health & safety in any procurement recommendations.
Support input into sharing of WTG data and market intelligence across the business.

The Requirements

Degree level qualification either commercial or engineering or equivalent experience.
Detailed knowledge of the wind turbine supply market including commercially & technically
Effective negotiation skills, with a track record of delivering success.
Confident negotiating in a commercial or engineering environment.
Good knowledge of contract law
Detailed knowledge of project life cycle
Detailed knowledge of supply chain management principles
Confident presenter able to communicate with a large range of audience types, from small informal presentations, to senior management boards.
Able to interpret detailed commercial documentation and express either verbally or in written form to the project team and senior management.
Demonstrable experience of leading negotiations for purchase of high value equipment including WTGs.
Demonstrable experience of defining & delivering a procurement strategy.
