Connect2Luton are excited to recruit for a General Manager Luton DART on behalf of Luton Borough Council within their Luton Rising/LLAL department!

As an General Manager Luton DART, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership in both the operational and infrastructure maintenance for Luton DART.

To be successful in this role you must be able to lead your team to deliver a broad range of services from Operations, Asset Management, and maintenance through to station facilities management, marketing, stakeholder and interface management and the Green agenda in order to deliver safe and reliable infrastructure customer friendly Luton DART services.

About the Role

• Direct the development, management and implementation of safety, train performance, customer satisfaction, asset performance, reliability, productivity and efficiency initiatives across Luton DART.
• Enhance and drive safety culture and safety improvements across Luton DART and manage the effective identification and management of all risks associated with the business activities.
• Direct the compliance with health and safety, quality and environment processes for all activities within the Luton DART business.
• Direct activities to manage the infrastructure assets to deliver agreed levels of performance and sustainability.
• As a Director of the Luton DART Ltd Board, support the Chairman and other Board Director’s as appropriate. Providing visibility of business performance and strategies for endorsement and commercial revenue.
• Achieve financial (cost and revenue), technical, safety and customer satisfaction targets and monitor business performance through internal, external and Luton DART Board periodic reviews.
• Inspire and deliver excellence in the quality of service provided to the client, customers and direct the commercial relationships with customers, suppliers and Luton DART Limited.
• Responsible for defining, developing and negotiating contracts with key contractors enabling the safe operation and maintenance of Luton DART.
• Managing the contracts on a day by day basis.

About you

• Extensive experience of working in engineering/rail industry, ideally specific to light rail and maintenance.
• Strategic experience within the public transport (light Rail) discipline at senior level.
• Have partnership and community working, people management, visible leadership, problem solving and decision making, commercial awareness.
• Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of equality issues and legislation.
• Overview of ISO and HSE activities to ensure compliance.
• In depth understanding of the Light railway industry and its needs and interfaces.
• Member of a relevant professional body with chartered status or equivalent experience.
