Buyer

My client are a well established engineering and manufacturing company based in the Stourbridge area.

The Buyer role has overall responsibility for the procurement of group products from Asia.

Responsibility for the Asian outsourced stock including stocking levels, the undertaking of stock checks and management of the stock mapping system.

Place all orders for group products from Asia ensuring clear and sufficient technical and commercial instructions are given to suppliers and are fully understood.

Liaise closely with sales and ensure the best price for goods is achieved through negotiation, benchmarking and other suitable means.

Monitor and manage each potential order from enquiry stage through to when goods pass inspection, ensuring all orders are received in good time to meet customer needs.

Actively seek new suppliers in China or any other appropriate market.

In consultation with Directors visit current and potential suppliers at their premises or exhibitions around the world.

Hold regular update meetings with Sales Director to raise any supply and delivery concerns and make any recommendations for improvements or new suppliers.

Manage and keep full records of all current and historic orders through appropriate means maintaining an easy to follow audit trail.

Arrange for receipt of prototype and production samples when appropriate and liaise with inspection department on testing, keeping full records of results.

Work closely with sales and production on the procurement aspect of new product development.

Keep close contact with accounts department to arrange payment for imported goods and ensure they are aware of future requirements so currency can be obtained accordingly.

Manage the daily work of Chinese based inspector making the best use of his time, arranging with him appropriate supplier visits and authorising any subsequent expense claims.

Give notice of goods inwards arrivals to inspection department.

Work closely with inspection department to authorise the despatch of goods from Asia in a timely manner.

Ensure all relevant feedback on received samples and production batches is passed on to suppliers

Arrange and manage the transport and delivery of all imported goods from country of origin to the factory.

Auditing the ISO 9000 quality procedure.

The Buyer role will attract a salary depending on experience of £33,600 – £38,400per annum. Please apply as soon as possible to be considered for this exciting opportunity.
