QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
* Recognised Construction qualification (level 2 or 3 NVQ or C&G craft or Advanced Craft).
* User certificates for attendance on relevant safety courses (H&S, pillar drill, grinding wheel, woodwork machinery, PASMA) or willingness to gain.
* First Aid Certificate or willingness to gain.
* A1 qualified (or willing to work towards within the first year).
* Committed to continuous personal development in an educational context.
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE
* Relevant experience in a Multi-Skilled Construction workshop environment.
* Experience of working in an educational environment would be an advantage.
* Able to undertake minor repairs.
* Basic knowledge of electrical crafts.
* Familiarity with and commitment to safe working practices.
* Knowledge of stock control methods.
* IT skills? Word Processing, PowerPoint and Spreadsheets.
* Health & Safety practices.
THE ROLE
As a Multi-skilled Construction Technician/Instructor for the college your areas of responsibility will include:-
Learning
Supporting student learning by carrying out practical demonstrations and supporting the lecturer in practical sessions. You will be required to assist with the planning, organisation and preparation of the workshop on a day-to-day basis and adhere to the College’s Health and Safety policy requirements.
Pastoral Care
Supporting the ethos of the College and Centre you will take shared responsibility for the supervision of students at the start and end of the day and during break times. You will supervise the students on educational and work experience visits and support and implement the Colleges Equality & Diversity Policy.
Personal development
You will participate in a programme of personal development, staff conferences, appraisals and performance reviews. You will demonstrate a commitment to developing ICT skills.
Other duties
* Assisting with promotion, supervision, management and administration.
* Maintaining equipment and arranging repairs and servicing.
* Promoting the efficiency and effectiveness of the Centre.
* Carrying out other duties as may reasonably be required by the Curriculum Manager or Head of Department.

You must work in a methodical and organised manner, able to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks. You should be able to confront and resolve any issues and conflicts that arise in the role and show decision-making abilities.
