Salary: £48,000 – £54,000 per year
Our client is a global leader in the transportation industry. They are looking to strengthen their Technical team at the Manchester site.
Job Overview:
As a member of the Technical Services team, provide engineering support to all areas of the business and to customer and supplier base, contribute to the development and growth of the business whilst maintaining the company’s safety and quality standards. Undertake engineering activities to ensure that all products supplied are in accordance with national and internationally recognised standards and specifications for a wide range of products and services.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Work to product standards and specifications.
Compiling comprehensive technical reports.
Supplier – customer technical interface for wheelsets.
Provide support to First and Final article inspections.
Undertake document and drawing reviews including clause by clause reviews of new/ updated specifications.
Provide support to contract variations and concessions.
Resolving Customer/Supplier/Internal technical queries.
Provide support to wheelset audits.
Support product improvements to improve component performance.
Support special investigations including joint investigations, National Incident Reports and warranty issues.
Support the implementation of new parts into the production area
Reverse engineering of wheelset components.
Lead customer engineering meetings.
Manage change process.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customer counterparts.
Qualifications:
- A Technical Degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
- Chartered/Incorporated Engineering with a recognised Institution is preferable.
- A recently graduated engineer will be considered for the role.
Key Skills:
- Able to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- IT literate and familiar with Microsoft office software.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and SolidWorks desirable but not essential.
2-3 Years experience in a similar role/ heavy engineering is desirable.
