Job Purpose:
To plan, designate and delegate workload to a team of Parts Analysts and Planners providing a high level technical scheduling, planning and expediting function for Parts Operations. Responsible for the integrity of information relating to the Companies Parts, planning balanced inventory levels and overseeing the supply of parts from internal and external sources. Additional to material planning, the role provides the department with in-depth reporting and analysis on all the inventory planning, purchasing and service level dimensions. To ensure value, service, and delivery of cost saving, stock reduction management and continuous improvement initiatives. To represent the companies Parts Operations at all levels, both externally and internally. Outputs from the role inform departmental objectives and strategy at the highest level
Key Responsibilities & Tasks:
Responsibility for day-to-day monitoring of purchasing performance and workload delegation within Planning and Expediting functions
To create and define workflows for parts buyers and analysts through the provision of purchase proposals to ensure the correct quantities are purchased at the correct times and delivered in a cost efficient and timely manner, in order to maintain desired stock holding/availability targets
Oversee/support the day to day Material planning Using resource, expertise and the third party planning tool (SO99) to plan parts strategy and inventory to meet target service levels of 97% and maintain inventory within budgeted objectives
Supporting supplier selection, appraisal, audit and supply base performance management
Control and manage the integration and application of SO99
Back order reduction strategy formulation, co-ordination, delegation and reporting in conjunction with the optimisation of stock levels to provide the highest levels of customer service and availability at the lowest cost to the business
Inbound supplier cost reduction strategy – formulation, co-ordination and reporting
Ensuring compliance with regard to company policy and procedures
Management and delegation of internally scheduled parts from Gaydon
Management of Supersession records, part number creation records, source codes within planning systems
Liaison at all levels with customers, suppliers and other departments within the company
Day to day supervisor role of team to include team meeting, one to ones, appraisals and full support of HR polices. To coach and develop team as appropriate
Qualification & Experience:
Educated to degree level in an analytical discipline
Previous experience within a planning/purchasing function
Experience of leading cross functional projects
Strong presentation skills (written and verbal) and advanced PowerPoint and Excel
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with strong interpersonal skills
Advanced understanding of replenishment practices and relevant experience
Good understanding of all commercial organisation and business processes
