Define the strategy that shapes our service

Heading up our new team, you’ll soon discover that your ability to empathise with residents and to really listen to their needs, is as important as your technical knowledge and housing experience. You’ll oversee the strategic planning and operational delivery of Fire and Building Safety across our Housing portfolio. From shaping the direction of our new service to defining our response to the draft Building Safety Bill, you’ll make sure we have everything in place to protect the lives of our residents. You’ll take responsibility for the detailed consultation arrangement with residents too – putting their needs right at the heart of our work.

Deliver innovation that inspires the industry

The work we need to do is far-reaching and varied. We have more than 80 high-rise blocks and a large number of low-rise buildings in the Borough. So the portfolio offers unique challenges and opportunities. Within this setting, you’ll strive to innovate. You’ll develop our fire safety investment budget for upgrading existing Housing stock, circa £90m – and implement the tall blocks inspection programme that ensures ongoing building safety and satisfies lender requirements under the EWS1 process. Planning future remediation works, developing a strong relationship with the new Regulator forBuilding Safety, and liaising with leaders across the Council, you’ll grow our service into an industry leader.

It’s a challenging role and one that will call on your senior management experience, property background and ability to build excellent relationships at the highest levels. You’ll be a confident presenter, with impressive communication skills and an expert understanding of the regularity environment. You’ll also have a working knowledge of fire safetyand remediation projects – and be familiar with delivering remediation programmes from start to finish.You’ll need exceptional project management andanalysis skills too.
