IT Manager – Travel Industry

IT Manager required for this leading Travel Management Company located in Glasgow.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The core focus of this role will include managing IT & system related projects to successful delivery, working closely with Group IT. You will manage the day to day IT requirements of a global operations team, ensuring integration with Group policies on infrastructure As IT Manager you will be required to stay up to date with the latest travel technology & make proposals for both development and purchase of new IT efficiencies Following a recent change over on GDS systems, the successful candidate will help improve GDS processes using web services, GUI’s/masks, scripts & QC systems to ensure constant improvements in operational efficiency.
Your remit will also include design, testing & implementation solutions in an effort to increase agent productivity & decrease errors, whilst responding to industry changes that affect agents facing applications & robotics. The IT Manager will assess and propose client interface improvements to integrate/share data and will also manage the web site to include email warnings, RSS feeds and database for marketing.

Key responsibilities, within this role, include:
-Analyse and report periodically on changes needed/made.
-Liaise with Group IT to ensure reliability of systems for the business.
-Manage IT requirements of the business from Operations & sales to finance/admin.
-Support the business and client expectations.
-Report monthly to Managing Director of business & Group Director ISD.
-Stay up to date with latest technology offerings in the travel industry.
-Project manage and deliver to agreed timelines.
-Measure & report return on investment opportunities that contribute to the Travel Technology team goals.
-Establish a proactive approach to addressing & solving challenges both to the business and at the point of sale, including offering alternate solutions.
-Provide the overall IT management for the business, working from the company’s Glasgow division.
-This role will report in directly to the Company Director and will suit candidates with similar IT management experience, ideally gained within a corporate travel environment.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
We are ideally searching for candidates that come from a travel agency background with full understanding of GDS & back office systems. You should have extensive experience of business travel operations and reservation work flow procedures, with a knowledge of all GDS systems, understanding of desktop scripting, profile, mid-office and online booking tools. As IT Manager, you should be able to understand web technologies and have experience in face to face client meetings with an understanding of client systems integration.
The successful candidate should also understand client requirements for MIS reporting, crisis management & tracking and data analysis. You will have experience in project management & delivery of development and will be able to demonstrate strong time management skills.
