TEACHING ASSISTANT
A Teaching Assistant job working within Special Needs Schools in Coventry and Warwickshire
Your new school
SEN Schools in Coventry and Warwickshire provide specialist learning to children and young people with a wide range of educational difficulties including emotional and behavioural difficulties as well as more complex learning difficulties. Hays are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to complete both short and long term assignments in various SEN schools.
Your new role
You will be a Teaching Assistant who will be able to engage with pupils and support their learning. You will also encourage and facilitate development of physical and social skills by supporting activity based learning both inside and outside of the classroom. This work would be directed, planned and overseen by a qualified teacher from the school.
What you’ll need to succeed
Experience working with children with Special Needs is desirable but not required. We are predominantly looking for people with a positive, proactive attitude and a genuine desire to go the extra mile for the children you are supporting. If you don’t have experience working with Special Needs, experience working in mainstream education is essential.
Experience working with challenging behaviour will also be beneficial. If you have a Team Teach or similar Behaviour Management or safeguarding training that would be desirable.
You will support pupils with academic learning but also be involved in developing their life skills and have an opportunity to support them in outward-bound type activities.
What you’ll get in return
You will be offered a Teaching Assistant role that will be flexible in terms of days and hours. You’ll get a competitive day rate and opportunity work in various SEN schools in the Coventry and Warwickshire area. There will be opportunity for you to get involved and take ownership for a wide range of learning activities in the classroom and outside.
You will be supported by a Hays Consultant who will guide you through every step of the process and ensure that we support you during your placement. There will be opportunities for you to get involved in additional training/learning during school holidays.
