Environmental Heath Officer – Food Inspections

Salary: £26,000 per year

Our client, based in York, is looking to appoint an experienced Food EHO to work in a busy food team,

This is a interim position and you will be delivering high and low Food Hygiene inspections. You must meet the requirements of the Food Standards Agency’s Code of Practice to undertake food hygiene enforcement, ideally extensive experience in local authority/public sector roles.

The main purpose of the role is to undertake a backlog of food hygiene/premises inspections, undertaking work covering the regulatory areas of Food Safety & Standards, Health and Safety, Infectious Disease Control, Special Treatment licensing and Public Health.

You will be carrying out food hygiene and food standards inspections, reactive and proactive Health and Safety Enforcement, Infections Disease Controls and complaint investigations. You must therefore be experienced in carrying out food hygiene inspections and investigations, including the preparation of reports for formal action and the service of statutory notices.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes:

* Degree/Diploma in Environmental Health or a Higher Certificate in Food Premises Inspection and be EHRB registered.

* High levels of expertise in Public Health understanding and competence

* Good knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and issues involved with sites

* Experience of undertaking high risk food safety inspections, food enforcement, and undertaking complex food investigations and fully aware of the principles of infection control.
