Salary: £420 – £480 per day

Contract Business Analyst

We are looking for a skilled IT Business Analyst to join a new Project Management Office (PMO) based in Southampton. Due to the high volume of ICT programmes and projects a skilled Business Analyst is required to support the ICT PMO team for an initial 3 month contract.

This role will be the first point of contact; interacting directly with customers in order to elicit their business requirements, evaluating and improving their processes, and ensuring they realise their business benefits. The person fulfilling this role must be able to build strong relationships with key business stakeholders, have excellent customer service skills, be able to select appropriate analysis techniques and models in different contexts and be able to plan, manage and prioritise their own workload.

This role will report to the Head of the ICT PMO.

Key Responsibilities

– Work with business users to develop an understanding of their business needs and business goals, ensuring these remain aligned to corporate strategic priorities.

– Responsible for the elicitation and documentation of clear business requirements, with direct input from key business stakeholders

– Identify challenges, risks and issues to the delivery of business benefits and support work to resolve or mitigate such issues

– Influence decision makers through clear presentation of analysis findings, providing options and recommendations

– Build relationships with key internal stakeholders to enable effective delivery of business change/improvements. and work closely with business users to successfully implement business changes

Skills

– Ability to work with IT centric individuals and record their requirements in a non-technical format
– The ability to employ a variety of techniques to elicit information
– The ability to identify challenges and issues and employ a variety of techniques to work with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation to resolve them satisfactorily
– The ability to present results using both visual and textual models as appropriate
– Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships at all levels within the university
– Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
– Excellent planning and organisational skills, able to plan ahead, coordinate and facilitate workshops to meet the demands of the business community

– The ability to work with minimal supervision and to competently plan, manage and prioritise own workload.

Experience

– At proven track record in applying the whole business analysis skillset (workshop facilitation, stakeholder assessment, benefits definition and measurements, early scoping studies, business options, business use scenarios, process and data modelling) to resolve business problems and clarify business requirements in a complex business environment with multiple stakeholders.

– Proven ability to work both alone and as part of a project team to shape and deliver project requirements, with a good track record in influencing and negotiating business change.

– Excellent skills in managing stakeholder expectations with a proven track record of positive outcomes

– Experience of working on at least 5 IT projects which have involved significant business change.

– Hands-on experience of assisting an organisation to implement new business processes and business change.

Knowledge

– Excellent knowledge of workshop facilitation techniques and business process modelling techniques
– Excellent knowledge of IT infrastructure
