Project Manager (Heavy Engineering / Epc)

Salary: £60,000 – £72,000 per year

Laboris Solutions are pleased to be working with a leading equipment supplier of high-quality specialist equipment.

They’re looking to strengthen the current team with the appointment of an experienced Project Manager, to be responsible for all aspect of the delivery of our customer projects. You will be expected to effectively manage the project team to ensure on time delivery to budget and to the quality requirements in a safe and mindful manner. Working closely with clients, senior managers and other members of the engineering and procurement team you will take an active role in establishing the brief of the assigned projects, actively leading design and procurement efforts in a Project Engineering role that result in the successful installation and commissioning.

It is acknowledged that project managers will have different skill sets and engineering backgrounds. They will look to the project manager to take an active lead in the full scope of the project but with varying degrees of input across areas such as Mechanical Engineering, Structural Design, Materials and Equipment Selection and Electrical or Control Systems developments as appropriate.

Overseas travel is a fundamental and ongoing requirement of this position. Travel to client’s sites may involve, but is not limited to, progress meetings, commissioning of equipment, and technical sales support.

The Project Manager will have the ultimate profit and loss responsibility to secure the planned margin for the assigned project (s). Central to this is the on-going financial control and tracking of commitments made on projects through the execution phase.

Education; Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline.

Desired Skills and Experience:

An experienced Project Manager with minimum of 7 years’ experience in EPC project delivery to the processing industries with knowledge of heavy engineering, process design, and associated balance of plant or ancillary equipment supply together with commissioning of the same at customer facilities. 

The following skills should also be readily demonstrated.

• The ability to plan (schedule) and determine resources required to deliver the allocated projects and develop strong project execution plans form the sales hand-over to the successful completion of projects.
• Knowledge of managing the design process through Solidworks, or similar, to ensure deliverables are validated in the planned workflow and that the design controls employed are suitable and effective.
• A track record of working to budgets and an ability to manage scope of supply from multiple suppliers to deliver a cost-effective solution for multiple projects of various values ranging from £100K to £10M
• Organisation skills are central to the role and we see the need at times to have both an imaginative approach to work and to effectively solve problems that arise in fast-track equipment delivery projects.
• Commitment to personal development with excellent communication skills and above all must demonstrate effective leadership skills

Proficient in English and other European language (s) would be a great asset.
