Production Team Leader
Location: Dewsbury, Bradford, Leeds, Wakefield, Huddersfield, Yorkshire

The Client:
Our client is the global technology leader in acoustic and thermal management solutions for motor vehicles. As a partner for the major light vehicle manufacturers around the world they provide innovative and cost effective solutions for noise reduction and thermal management to increase vehicle comfort and value.
The Role:
*Lead the operating teams on a daily basis co-ordinating activities to meet required standards
*To establish and implement new operational standards and procedures to meet the needs of the business
*Lead first line continuous improvement activities along with problem solving (PPS) teams
*To collate all production figures and documentation ensuring they are maintained accurately in line with TS16949 & ISO14001 procedures.
*To monitor operational teams time and attendance in line with the businesses policies and procedures invoking said procedure were and when applicable
*Conduct annual appraisals, set and monitor objectives set
Key Responsibilities:
To ensure the manufacturing and timely delivery of a quality product on a daily basis meeting customer requirements.
To ensure operators work constantly to the operational business standards while achieving plan and KPI targets.
To liaise with support functions: Health and Safety, Quality, Process, Maintenance, Human Resource colleagues
ensuring systems and procedures are adhered to at all times.
To train and develop production team members and new starters in line with the business standards.
To lead by example in an open communicative, motivational style while respecting the requirements and needs of the individual and customers, supporting online activities.
To ensure the team own and maintain the business standards with reference to the Rieter Production Systems (APS), Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM), and 5S House Keeping.
To carry out shift pocket briefs effectively to keep teams up-to-date with current affairs.
To ensure corrective actions arising from external and internal sources are resolved through the findings of the actual route cause and are implemented and closed out.
To work flexibly and carry out additional duties as required.
Ensure that employees in your charge are aware of the requirement to, and are trained in how to, work safely.
Ensure that you and your team are aware of, contribute to and follow relevant EHS procedures, processes and practices.
Monitor and discuss any daily operational EHS issues that may arise and escalate as necessary.
Ensure that temps, visitors and contractors to your department know what they must do to work safely and comply with emergency policies.
Ensure that accidents and incidents in your area are reported and investigated and agreed remedial actions are implemented.
Required Capabilities:
*Varied experience of textile manufacturing process, automotive would be an advantage
*A desire to improve own skill base, knowledge and qualifications, open to challenges and change
*Man management and communication skills, writing, numeracy, literacy etc
*Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques in relation to world class manufacturing
*An understanding of health and safety in the work place and environmental issues
*Self motivated with the ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workloads under pressure
*Demonstrate mechanical aptitude
*Team leadership abilities
*Leading by example, encouraging team work and motivation to others
*Flexible hands on approach to work and a positive attitude in getting the job done
*The ability to respond in a pressured working environment to produce beneficial results
*The ability to challenge existing practices while looking for continuous improvement
*Computer literate – Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes etc
*Knowledge of handling and lifting techniques
*Good house keeping skills
*A good understanding of textile (automotive) manufacturing process would be useful
*Demonstrates strong team working skills with attention to detail and accuracy
*Good literacy, numeracy and computer skills
*Previous history of supervisory experiences / roles
*Knowledge of TS16949 and ISO14001
