Commercial Vehicle & Trailer Body Design Engineer

This role is for our client, Cartwright Group, and is based in Manchester.

Purpose of job:
To provide an effective product design solution for commercial vehicles, trailers and conversions to be built by the company’s body building and conversion facilities.

Principle Duties:
– To provide complete, functional working designs for construction of a wide portfolio of commercial trailers and vehicles of varying sizes and functions.
– To produce construction process flows related to these new product designs
– To work closely with the sales team to ensure customer requirements are fully met.
– To work closely with the manufacturing team and procurement team to ensure that customer requirements are met efficiently and profitably.
– To consider and evolve innovations to ensure the product offer is at the leading edge of technical capability ensuring maximum competitive advantage.
– Working to demanding schedules with minimum reworking or iterations of schemes.

Candidate Profile:
– HNC/Degree level draftsman
– Demonstrate extensive experience in design/commercial vehicle body design
– Experience in specific areas such as electrical, insulated panel and trailers an advantage
– Good team player instincts, professional approach and ability to interface with customers
– Ambition and drive to be involved in product innovation with new materials or processes and development of products for international markets

Experience:
– Commercial vehicle body builders
– Trailer building, lightweight conversions, bus building, refrigerated units
– Static trailer, free standing refrigerated units, blast freezers
– Design for manufacture
