Electrical Design Engineer

My client, well established engineering company specialising in design and build of bespoke automation machines is currently looking for Electrical Design Engineer.

The Role:
You will be required to design, develop and maintain electrical control systems for industrial automation equipment and machinery. You will work to required specifications, focusing on safety, reliability, quality, sustainability and cost of ownership. At the same time, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team involved in projects from the concept and detail of the design, through to implementation, testing and handover. You may also be involved in maintenance programmes.

Typical Work Activities Include
*Identifying customer requirements
*Reading and understanding design specifications and technical drawings
*Designing electrical control systems, for products and machinery
*Producing electrical schematics and drawings (AutoCAD electrical)
*Researching suitable solutions and estimating costs and timescales
*Developing test rigs, models and prototype control systems
*Working to BS and EN standards, IEE 17th edition, EMC, CE, and harmonised standards
*Maintaining HBEL electrical standards
*Supervising and assisting the wiring of control panels and machinery
*Liaising with others in the design team, clients and contractors
*Attending meetings on-site
*Testing and qualifying the final product or system
*Recording, analysing and interpreting test data, as required
*Proposing modifications and retesting products
*Servicing and maintaining equipment
*Preparing product documentation, Schematics, Test certificates, reports
*Procuring parts and managing budgets

Requirements:
*Educated to HND/HNC/City & Guilds in Electrical Engineering or similar
*Understanding of BS and EN standards, IEE 17th edition, EMC, CE, and harmonised standards
*Experience with automation, product handling, or special purpose machinery
*Ability to read, understand and produce electrical drawings using AutoCad Electrical
*Electrical wiring skills
*PLC programming experience would be beneficial
