Senior Plumbing Tutor / Trainer

Vision for Education are working in partnership with Milton Keynes College who deliver the Offender Learning and Skills Service (OLASS) Phase 4 contracts. The curriculum in prisons has been developed to have a sharper focus on those offenders who are approaching the end of their sentence, so supporting them to access real work opportunities in the prisons and re-enter the employment market on release. The skills required to work with offenders are varied and your time can have a great impact on often disadvantaged people who have fallen into difficult circumstances. It is important to offer support and positivity to aid rehabilitation. The focus of this is to prevent or at least reduce the potential of further offending behaviour and all provision/ teaching is delivered in purpose built Education Departments and well resourced vocational workshops).

We are currently recruiting for a number of rewarding and permanent positions at Britain’s newest prison HMP Oakwood which provides places for up to 1605 Category C male prisoners and is run privately by G4S.

Position: Senior Tutor/Trainer of Plumbing

Salary: Initially this position will be offer on a 13 week contractual basis on a rate of £132per day plus 45p per mile travel. After 13 weeks if the Education Manager is happy the position will be offered on a perm basis with a salary of £132 (the top end of the scale will be achieved over time with performance)

You will have;

· A relevant plumbing qualification at Level 3 or above

· Teaching Qualification (CTTLS or higher)

· Experience of working with students who may have little or no experience of education or training

· An Assessor award

In return you will receive:

. Your working week will comprise of 4 full days Monday to Thursday and Friday morning finishing at lunch time (37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year)

. Holidays – 25 per year (plus 3 days in lieu for college shutdown) in addition to statutory Bank Holidays
