Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to be a key player in maintaining and further shaping excellent facilities management services for our rapidly expanding plc life sciences client.

We are a small niche independent FM company working as an integral part of our client’s business, supporting their continued development of accessible new generation sensing technologies.

As our client’s business grows the need for high quality FM services will become increasingly crucial as they develop new facilities for R&D and production, so we are now expanding our team to meet the increasing demands.

We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to complement and manage our facilities project team taking the lead on the M&E aspects of projects ranging from refurbishments of existing buildings to shell fit-out.

Responsibilities and Duties of Project Engineer

Reporting to Head of Facilities, you will be responsible for

  • Assisting with the client with development of design briefs.
  • Understanding and interpreting the client’s requirements to translate between business need and technical requirement on proposals for multiple new building projects and refurbishments.
  • Managing detailed M&E design, specification and scoping of projects working with contractors to produce feasibility proposals.
  • Providing technical supervision during implementation and overseeing commissioning.
  • Assisting with project budget production and cost planning.
  • Overseeing with procurement and production of contractor packages for M&E works
  • Monitoring and driving progress of projects in accordance with the programme timeline and to the required safety, quality, and environmental objectives.
  • Providing project reports and attending project meetings where appropriate.
  • Managing the Project surveyor (QS) and Facilities Projects Manager.

Qualifications and Skills of Project Engineer

The ideal candidate will have

  • A background or qualification in either Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and associated current legislation.
  • Knowledge or experience of CDM Regulations and Building Regulations.
  • Project experience within the Facilities Management or Construction industry ideally working for a main contractor.
  • Experience working on design and build fit-out projects.
  • Experience working in a client facing role and being able to build robust professional relationships with a range.
  • Great people management skills.
  • A good work ethic and strong interpersonal skills – Must be able to hit the ground running!

This is a full-time role with a split (flexible & according to need) working from home and on site.
