Due to the challenges of this SEN Teaching Assistant role, we are looking for a seriously motivated and driven individual: a strong-willed graduate who can be firm but fair and convey authority without being overbearing. You will need to be patient and have a positive outlook in everything you do. Any experience or theoretical understanding of communication difficulties in children would be advantageous to your application, as would a 1st or high 2:1 in Psychology.
This SEN Teaching Assistant position will require you to work almost exclusively with a young learner with communication and associated difficulties. This Year 4 girl is bright and eager to learn, but can become a frustrated quite easily due to her Speech and Language needs. Your main role will be to keep her progressing along her individual learning pathway, developed by the school’s SENCO who will support you as well. You will have a rare opportunity to contribute to this learning pathway, becoming directly involved in her progress.
