New Build Housing Estimator / Cost Planner

Our client is a privately run and directed construction business based nears Ilford in Essex.
They are keen to employ an experienced Estimator/Cost Planner with extensive experience on major residential development projects between £10 million to £100 million.
Any applicants must have/must be:
• Stable career background and good communication skills
• Minimum 5-10 years UK experience in estimating roles with residential developers or recognised housebuilders
• Good knowledge of construction management process and techniques and adaptable in order to price a variety of projects from traditional housing to high rise concrete frame structures
• The ability to prepare accurate elemental cost plans
• Ability to visit sites and quickly access key cost risks and scrutinise bid documents for the same
• Ability to carry out cost comparison exercises
• Strong IT skills: All Microsoft packages especially Excel, ideally CADmeasure or similar electronic measurement software

• Good attitude and ability to work as part of a small team, within a much larger organisation
• Key attributes: reliable, smart, ambitious and proactive
• Must enjoy working in a busy, challenging environment
• To review/comment on preliminary drawings
• To work with Development Managers to prepare land appraisals
• Must have an awareness of market conditions and effect of cost movement on specific materials and labour
• Familiar with maintaining a reliable historical cost database and use benchmarking techniques with market testing
• Must have strong organisational skills to record progress as projects progress and revise cost plans accordingly

• Professional Qualifications and/or Institute Membership
