Salary: £34,800 – £37,200 per year
Our client, globally recognised as a market leader in their field, design, develop, manufacture and market aerospace products allied to both the defence and civil sectors globally, and as a result of continued success and a strategic programme of planned growth for 2015, have created a new position of Purchasing and Procurement Specialist to ensure efficient Purchase Order placement to acquire specific goods and service and to the correct quality standards within the Raw Materials division.
Before considering applying to this position, it is an ESSENTIAL requirement that candidates will either currently hold – or be able to attain – full UK MoD Security Clearance and demonstrate full eligibility to reside and work in the UK.
The successful candidate will be responsible for agreeing contracts with the supply base to acquire specific goods and services for internal and external customers on time and within budget and to the correct quality standards, and will include agreeing contracts with new suppliers, including agreement with, and support of, new terms and conditions. Critical to this role is the requirement to prioritise your work in order to discharge tasks and activities effectively to meet the needs of the business, and essentially you will conduct procurement activity in a way that optimises commercial advantage for the business and minimises risk.
Core responsibilities will include:
*Managing the on-site Chemical DLF Programme ensuring on-time delivery in conjunction with the necessary cost and quality measures.
*Placing Purchase Orders for Forgings, Castings, Raw Material, Paints, Oils and Lubricants in line with agreed Long Term Agreements and Commodity bulletins.
*Leading negotiations with decision makers of suppliers to secure appropriate contracts for procurement of equipment and /or services
*Ensuring credible plans or specifications exist to support supplier commitments checking credibility with internal specialists as appropriate and managing progress against such plans, ensuring specialists are involved as required.
*Achieving expanded profit and increased margins for the business by the achievement of price and total purchase cost reduction by securing preferential terms
*Ensuring all outputs for which you are technically responsible are delivered in an efficient and effective manner, ensuring that delivery of these will meet agreed business requirements e.g. placement of Purchase Orders, resolution of commercial issues.
*Manage the agreement of targets and review levels of performance by your supply base
*Managing contracts through to timely completion and contract condition. Contract documentation will be maintained in a constant up to date condition and incorporating all agreed changes
To be considered for this varied and challenging opportunity, you will essentially demonstrate knowledge and previous experience in Purchasing and Contract supply gained within a manufacturing or aerospace environment, along with good all round communication skills and the ability to influence internally and externally and solve problems using your own initiative or on occasion by seeking assistance.
You will be IT literate (with knowledge of SAP proving distinctly advantageous) and possess a full driving licence and be flexible to travel to suppliers in both the UK and overseas.
