Night Housing Assistant

The service comprises of 6 sheltered living schemes across the borough of Waltham Forest. They provide accommodation to approximately 200 residents and an average of 4 hours support to each customer per week. All schemes offer a 24/7 service. Day staff would be based at one scheme while night staff may be expected to travel between 2-3 locations.

The successful candidate will provide overnight staffing cover to ensure the customers safety and security throughout the night.

Responsibilities:
• Will be required to responded to any customer needs or emergencies during the sleep period
• Creating and maintaining a safe and secure environment for the customers which would including ensuring the security of the building
• Liaising with both internal and external services (GP, emergency service, families ETC )
• Maintaining reporting and record keeping
• Maintaining the cleanliness across the scheme

Working hours:
7 nights on, 7 nights off
9pm – 9am

Candidates must have an online DBS within 1 year to be considered for this role.

Essential Experience:
• Must have experience lone working
• Experience with responding to crisis situations
• Experience of report writing / proving a handover to day staff
• Basic IT skills
• Good communication skills both written and verbal

Desirable experience:
• Be happy to work unsociable hours
• Experience of providing support to a similar client group
• Languages will be an advantage spoken Greek and/or Hindu
• NVQ/ QCF qualified
• Driving Licence
