Material Handler / Steel Processing Operative

A Material Handler / Steel Processing Operative required for a large steel company based in Oldbury. Duties include handling steel profiles using a pendant overhead crane and FLT, banding up, and general warehouse duties. Permanent contract working rotating shifts 6 – 2 / 2 – 10, possibly nights if required. Rate of pay is £26,000for AM/PM shifts, £9.02 if working Nights.

Full Duties include –

Handling of steel stock in the warehouse area, including steel profiles / sections of various sizes.

Operating a 10ton pendant overhead crane with chain and sling attachments

Loading and unloading of vehicles with steel stock, transferring it to the stores area or feeding machinists

Driving a counterbalance FLT to handle palletized stock

Using the in-house computer system to update stock and allocate it correctly

Banding up processed steel, palletizing, wrapping and labeling ready for dispatch

Candidate MUST have a solid checkable work history with extensive experience in the steel industry. Must also be able to safely operate overhead cranes and forklift trucks, holding certificates is highly advantageous but not essential to apply. Candidates must have excellent literacy and numeracy skills, and also have a basic experience using computers, training will be given on use of the stock control system.

Permanent contracts on offer starting immediately for the right person.

Working hours are rotating shifts of 6am – 2pm 2pm – 10pm Mon to Fri, however candidates may be expected to work nights from time to time if the business demands it, Night shift is 10pm – 6am Mon to Fri.

Rate of pay is £26,000per year for days, £9.02 for Nights.
