Buyer / Senior Buyer

Salary: £42,000 – £66,000 per year

Locally based civil engineering contractor are looking for a Buyer and Senior Buyer to add to their existing team. Reporting to the Head Buyer the role will be to provide purchasing and material support within the company to resource the most cost-effective materials to meet the requirements for site.

Key role and responsibilities will be to manage the procurement of materials for each project daily, developing and managing the negotiations of terms with suppliers aswell as dealing with the flow of materials whilst monitoring performance, quality, prices, and development from all suppliers. You will also be responsible for compliance for all Health & Safety environmental requirements of materials, preparing for quotations and proposals aswell as attending site visits to ensure that the site team have the support required. At all times you will also be required to provide effective communications for each project through the approved supply chain via various channels, preparation and maintaining cost reports to maximise efficiency will also be required including identification of potential suppliers and new products.

You will also be required to liaise with the senior management at tender stage ensuring that accurate costs for projects are provided also assessing and advising on any commerical risk, you will also have to liaise with the site and commercial staff ensuring that material deliveries are on time and accurate including the managementfor all purchase orders and invoicing issues and resolving them

Ideal applicants will have experience working on groundworks or civil engineering projects including successfully sourcing materials for the groundworks on projects and displaying excellent knowledge of all forms or aggregates, asphaly, concrete and drainage purchasing
