Salary: £26,000 – £28,800 per year
Junior Developer
We are an online retailer and are interested in employing a programmer/developer to support our IT Manager in the building and development of our eCommerce websites from approved designs. The selected candidate will be supported by our designer and developer to build/support these eCommerce websites in Magento. It would be useful if they have some experience in (X)HTML, CSS & JavaScript/j Query/Prototype together with some understanding of PHP, MySQL and WordPress.
The primary focus of the role is to take designs and technical specifications and create and/or support a web-site that matches the brief
– This will include suggesting improvements, responsibility for end-to-end testing and managing deliverable time-plans.
It is also advantageous if applicants have an understanding of web analytics’, the concepts of search engine optimisation, software life cycle, including best practices in version control, testing and deployment.
Purpose of the role
– Develop and maintain new features / Magento extensions in
collaboration with the Senior Developer
– Collaborate with technical third parties (e.g. Magento Extensions)
Desirable Technical Skills
– Web technologies such as PHP, CSS/HTML, XML, JavaScript
– Object Oriented Programming
– WordPress
– MySQL
– Source code management (e.g. Subversion, git)
– Plus: agile software development experience, unit tests, test driven
development
Desirable Soft Skills
– Highly motivated and pro-active
– Thoroughness and attention to detail
– Ability to automate common tasks
