NHS 111 Call Handler

Manpower is supporting the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to deliver the NHS 111 call handling services in the Yorkshire and Humber region.

The single memorable 111 number enables patients to call for advice and assistance 24/7 365 days a year and we are currently recruiting call handlers to assist patients to access urgent care services?

As a call handler for the NHS 111 service you will be the first point of contact of communication with patients, patients’ relatives, Healthcare professionals and other callers. Using NHS Pathways to record patients’ demographics and basic clinical information you will provide assessment, basic advice and health information to patients and ensure they are directed to the most appropriate Healthcare professional or end disposition including advice to manage their symptoms at home.

Applicants must have strong customer service skills, effective listening, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deal with complex, sensitive and distressing information. You must also have a minimum of 3 GCSE’s or equivalent including maths and English.

Manpower is now recruiting for early January 2015. We need people willing to work 16 hours a week, working weekends + bank holidays. You will be required to work flexible shift patterns which will attract up to 25% unsocial hours payments depending on the actual hours worked.

Manpower are currently recruiting to support the Wakefield call centre – training will be in Wakefield or Rotherham for a period of four weeks full time, there is then further training 1 day a week Wednesdays in Wakefield and Thursday in Rotherham.. Please note that the NHS Pathways element of the training needs to be passed to enable employment to continue.
