The role of the Product Manager will involve setting the long-term vision and strategy for and delivering the short term development of their categories. They will take responsibility for the commercial agreements with vendors and maximising commercial improvements.

A large wholesaler in the West Yorkshire area. They are a leader in their field. As a multi-channel business, they sell to a number of business a variety of products both branded & own brand.
Description
- Negotiating with suppliers to achieve best business package for the company including agreeing terms for rebates, MDF, annual & quarterly targets, payment days and settlement discount.
- Analysing & utilising market data/supplier data/internal data to produce effective plans and programmes to grow the designated brands/channels profitably.
- Building strong relationships and rapport with key personnel, interfacing at different levels with key supplier contacts. Ensure regular communication on the company’s strategic direction.
- Managing all vendor ‘house-keeping ‘including pricing, presentation of products on internal systems and in publications, stock issues, rebates, MDF, price protection and manage any vendor implants.
- Identification and development of long term suppliers for existing and new products in accordance with the business strategy.
- Manage the full process of bringing new products to market and develop future product road maps for appropriate exclusive brands.
- Supporting the Content and Publication teams with the presentation of products on internal and external systems and play a key role in the companies publications.
- Agreeing supplier/brand/merchandising objectives and tactics to achieve margin growth for both customer and company.
- In conjunction with the Sales Teams identify and develop product opportunities through customer engagement and Category Management, developing strategic customers.
- Interface, support and influence with the internal departments of the company’s sales, inventory, marketing, content, purchasing and operations.
- Prioritising activity that presents the greatest influence, both real and potential, on the profitability of the company.
- Participating in any projects or additional duties as required by the company and directed by line management
Profile
- Developed negotiation and questioning skills.
- Ideally have experience working with FS / Stationery
- Be a confident communicator, able to handle difficult conversations and ask challenging questions.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Developed presentation skills.
- Good, strong communicator.
- Strong aptitude for attention to detail.
- Prioritisation skills.
- Have a proven track record of Product Management
- Adaptable and flexible to absorb multiple pricing project requests..
- Ability to work to deadlines and targets.
- A desire to develop new skills and committed to personal and team development.
- Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office packages, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
