Test Software Development Engineer

Salary: £38,400 – £54,000 per year

Our client, a market leading global manufacturing company based in Burgess Hill, are recruiting for a Test Software Development Engineer. You will be responsible for driving global projects to deliver improved software on qualification testing of new product prototypes and existing machines. This is to ensure that the test software used in the Service Technology Centres reflect how the customer will use the products after service.

This role covers the support, development and testing of new and existing test software used in the global Service Technology Centres
19 locations globally; covering Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan, Europe, North America and South East Asia
The employee will be responsible for leading workstreams and developing task lists for work required and applying the appropriate level of priority to the defined tasks
The role requires a high level of autonomy and the ability to work to project deliverable timelines
The employee must have the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
The ability to create a network of contacts throughout the VTBA Product Companies to ensure that latest test developments and innovations are understood and where applicable applied to Service tests.
This role will be strongly linked to the team delivering Service 4.0 (Industry 4.0) in to the global STC facilities
The pattern of work will be standard working week (37 hours), but there may be a need to work outside of normal working hours when supporting the launch of new software in to the global STC’s.
There may be a requirement to travel globally to meet business needs
The role will focus of the semi-conductor products manufactured by the Edwards brand.
iH, iGX, Gen 4, Gen 5 and any future product developed that will be serviced in the global STC’s.

Essential Skills/Experience:

In-depth experience in a production test environment
A proven track record of developing robust, stand-alone, test applications for MS Windows
At least 2 years’ experience developing applications in National Instruments LabVIEW
A very good understanding of industrial sensors (temperature, flow, power, pressure, etc) and how to process / log measurement data in a software environment
Experience of working with various communication protocols, such as: RS232, Modbus, I2C, FTP, TCP/IP, Echelon LON
A working knowledge of XML, JSON and tabular data file formats
Strong knowledge of legislative requirements for safety
Ability to collate data and present technical data and guidance in reports and presentations for internal and external use

Desirable Skills/Experience:

C# and.NET
Appreciation of Software Code Management tools, such as Apache Subversion (SVN) and Mercurial (Hg)
Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, ideally experience with MongoDB and SQLite
Experience with NI DAQmx
MS Visual Basic 6 /.NET
Python
Create and coordinate Capital Expenditure Proposals
