Salary: £18.04 per hour

Salary: £29,000 which equates to £15.03 per hour + £700 on call allowance

Contract/Hours: Permanent Full Time, working 37 hours per week.

About Us 

Action for Children supported 600,000 children and families through our services last year, but with 4 million children in the UK living in poverty, we need to be able to do more. About the Role: 

Our Place is a 3-bed permanent residential home for children and young people aged between 8 – 18 who have various learning disabilities. Action for Children strive to create a homely and supportive environment where the children can thrive and develop by us supporting them with household tasks and all aspects of their care.

Here at Our Place, we focus on making sure the children’s voices are always heard and pride ourselves on providing a collaborative and caring service. We work hard to ensure the children in our care are experiencing a safe and happy childhood in a friendly, warm and inclusive environment.

As a Team leader your aim is to positively lead and support a team of workers to ensure that a safe and friendly environment is provided for the children and young people. You will work with the registered manager in the day to day running of the home and deputise in their absence. Work as part of a multi disciplinary team ensuring that the children and young people we support develop to reach their full potential. We will actively support you in your role and provide you with regular supervision

As a Team Leader, you’ll be: 

– Supporting Young People to achieve positive outcomes.

 – Provide direct line management to a team of residential staff to deliver high standards of care.

– Leading shifts and supervising staff.

– Link working with young people (managing paperwork and files).

 – Developing care plans and identifying agreed outcomes.

– Responsible for the safeguarding of young people.

 – Being an advocate for the wellbeing of the young people.

– Leading and assessing staff, carrying out supervisions, appraisals and risk assessments.

What You’ll Bring: 

Our job description for the Team Leader outlines the requirements of the role but the ‘must-haves’ are: 

 – A Level 3 Diploma for Residential Child Care (or equivalent) and experience of improving the lives of children and young people.

– Experience of working with children or young people (experience working with children with disabilities would be an advantage).

 – Commitment to helping children with disabilities to thrive.

 – Empathy and compassion.

 – Experience of taking on leadership responsibilities.

 – Flexibility to cover shifts including evenings and weekends.
