Salary: £34,800 – £42,000 per year

Our client is looking to recruit a Nursery Deputy Manager for a childrens residential care home.

Job Purpose 

  • To assist in managing the resources of the Home and to provide a positive living experience for the resident young people
  • To ensure that the company consistently provides a high quality of service to its users
  • To liaise with, inform, and carry out delegated tasks, as required by company Directors and to liaise with all other Group personnel

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • To assist the Manager with the development and coordination of the Home, in accordance with the company policies, and to deputise for the Manager in his/her absence
  • To assist the Manager in the overall management and day-to-day operation of the Home, ensuring that the home is a safe and secure environment
  • To share responsibilities with the Manager and Senior Support Workers to ensure adequate management cover for the home
  • To be the Line Manager to Senior and Support Workers. Providing line management support and leadership to staff and residents on a shift by shift basis, ensuring that the needs of the young people are met in accordance with their relevant plans*
  • Provide structured and recorded, as well as informal/on the job supervision for staff, contribute to the staff appraisal system and ensure a high standard of practice and performance by being a role model for the staff, in direct work with young people
  • In conjunction with the Manager train and support the staff team, through supervision and formal training processes
  • To assist the Manager in ensuring that each member of staff has a training and development plan, and that both the team and individuals receive regular training according to their identified needs and the needs of the Home.
  • To monitor the practices and performance of staff according to the developing needs of the residents or the Home
  • Work within the code of confidentiality and ensure that records in the home are stored in a manner which is compliant with regulations
  • Ensure that agreed safety procedures are carried out to maintain a safe environment for all persons involved with the company (including visitors) in accordance the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
