Our client is an employee-owned, independent environmental consultancy with a 30-year heritage in the waste and resources sector. An exciting, key leadership role as Principal Consultant currently exists within the company’s Global consultancy team. You will deliver technical support on waste management and circular economy issues to public and private sector organisations in the UK and globally. Your focus will be helping international agencies, national and local governments to tackle sustainable resource management challenges, with a particular focus on low- and middle-income countries.
Essential Requirements
* Undergraduate degree or equivalent in a relevant subject
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in waste and resources sector, with an excellent knowledge of technical issues and developments across resources and waste and circular economy issues.
* Proven track record in successfully delivering projects and initiatives in the resources and waste sector, including experience working in a consultancy environment.
* Experience in tackling resource and waste challenges in low- and middle-income countries
* Experience of working with local government on waste management services
* A demonstrated ability to secure new projects and/or clients
* Proven experience of operating at a senior level, including communicating with, and influencing, senior staff in partner and client organisations
* Proven ability to present complex information and ideas to diverse range of audiences
* Excellent report writing skills
* Great time management and organisational skills
* Ability to work effectively on own initiative and as part of a team
* Ability to perform calmly under pressure
* Highly competent IT user, particularly Microsoft Packages, including Word and Excel.
* Current UK driving licence
Desirable
* Postgraduate degree in a relevant subject
* Professional membership (e.g., RSA, CIWM, IEMA, ISWA)
* Experience in working with international development agencies, development banks and international NGOs
* Expertise in assessing and developing solutions to marine litter and plastics pollution on projects
* Knowledge of carbon emission issues associated with waste management
* Fluency in a second language
* Experience using GIS and spatial data management software.
You will be based out of the company’s office in the South West but a proportion of time working from home will be considered for the right candidate. Regular UK and global travel also to be expected.
