Principal Scientist – Inflammation and Fibrosis

Based North West England

Our client is a respected and expanding biotech which is developing a portfolio of ground-breaking small molecule therapeutics to address conditions in the fields of oncology, inflammation and fibrosis. Recent partnering deals have led to further investment, so they now wish to appoint a seasoned drug discovery biologist to compliment and drive their inflammation and biology group.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

* Assessing new drug targets

* Providing expert opinion on disease mechanisms and optimal therapeutic intervention strategies

* Planning and managing studies with contract research organisations (CROs)

* Managing and directing a small team of junior scientists

* Teamwork with medicinal chemistry and DMPK scientists

* Project leadership and management

* Attending conferences, both on-line and in person

To succeed you will possess the following skills and experience:

* Ideally PhD-qualified in an appropriate discipline

* Proven track-record in drug discovery gained with large pharma or biotech organisations

* Hands-on knowledge of immunology, metabolism or fibrosis

* Experience with techniques including biochemical enzyme assays, screening cascade build, tissue culture, molecular biology and flow cytometry

* Experience planning and managing work with CROs and universities

* Exposure working in a fast-paced environment where your work will inform company strategy
