Due to the continued success and expansion of our client arm of their manufacturing site based in Corby, Northamptonshire, an exciting opportunity has risen to recruit an experienced Despatch Operative who will take autonomy of their job role and work as a key member of as part of a small team, reporting directly to the Supervisor

To ensure the despatch achieves targets on time and in accordance with agreed company standards and policies by the efficient and cost effective control of operations and resources.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Ensure that all products are despatched and correct in accordance with agreed sales department deadlines.
• Confirm all customer orders are correctly collated before loading them onto the corresponding vehicles ready for despatch.
• To be a pro-active member of the distribution team, working as part of that team maintaining company standards and influencing policy on employee, customer and community issues in the area of responsibility.
• Ensure product quality through definition of product and process specifications.
• Ensure product safety, particularly with regard to HACCP systems and controls.
• Collate orders ready for despatching on required vehicles.
• Check all products are at the required standard with correct label details for each specific customer.
• Ensure transporting equipment is correct for each customer i.e. double or single dollies or pallets and that they are in good working order.
• Load vehicles when completed orders have been checked.
• Ensure all orders are despatched correctly with no shortages. If a shortage occurs liaise with the supervisor.
• Monitor hygiene and housekeeping and ensure hygiene schedules are completed.
• Ensure all product to be frozen is put into the freezer as soon as possible after wrapping and the amount recorded.
• Report all maintenance issues by using the ‘chit system’ and ensure work is completed.
• Maintain control of product movement within the loading areas, keeping stock to a sensible working minimum, ensuring correct rotation of stocks, and maintaining the unaccounted and waste levels to a minimum.
• Carry out all other reasonable duties to meet the needs of the business as requested by the supervisor and the Shift Supervisor.

We would expect the successful Despatch Operative to be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of a Despatch environment. As an individual it is essential that you are able to demonstrate the ability to multi-task, and have a good eye for detail. Need to meet company cultural aspirations have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate with a variety of different people.
